4/11/2024 0 Comments Intergenerational trauma quotesWe are yelling at each other in our cars and the grocery store, tearing apart our relationships instead of healing them, pointing out every tiny mistake anyone makes and punishing them for it, focusing only on our hurt being heard and not at all on repair. We are so relentlessly brutal with each other right now. That these two were in some kind of relationship intimate enough that they would have a 2+ hour argument and at no point would there be a single relational gesture of comfort. I can't stop thinking about that this week. I did notice that when one would start crying, the other did not comfort her. I have no idea what they were fighting about, what happened, or whether it was resolved. They sat, arms crossed, faces red, crying off and on. I was writing at a coffee shop on Sunday and right outside the window, two teenage girls were having a long and painful argument.
